Carrie Fisher and Bily Dee Williams 1980 TV Interview

Filmed sometime in mid 1980 to promote the release of The Empire Strikes Back, this television interview with Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia) and Billy Dee Williams (Lando Calrissian) doesn't reveal anything new, but it does capture just how beautiful Carrie was, and how charming Billy Dee Williams can be.

Knowing what we do now about Carrie's drug problems back then, one cannot help but wonder if she was perhaps a little high during this interview - certainly her eyes appear to be a little droopy, and she seems maybe a little too relaxed as she responds (to a question about whether she has heard that people are saying the new movie is better than the first one) "Yeah... The characters are much more developed, the relationships between the characters, you get to know them better. So er... It's a much denser...[mumbles]... story. New characters introduced, planets." It could just be that by this point in the publicity tour, she was simply tired and bored having answered so many questions about the film that she simply couldn't be bothered to respond with the level of enthusiasm and attention that she might have been able to muster a few weeks earlier. Regardless, I find it an interesting little moment, frozen in time, from the Star Wars archives.

I'm afraid I don't know the name of the show, or the presenter, or if there is more to this interview than just these seven minutes. The last few seconds of the audio is missing, but I don't think we miss anything important.
