Twenty years ago, in 1994, the 23rd issue of the Lucasfilm Fan Club Magazine (itself a successor to Bantha Tracks) was rebranded the Star Wars Insider.
This premier issue featured interviews with Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia), Kenny Baker (R2-D2) and Denis Lawson (who just recently turned down an opportunity to reprise his role as Wedge Antilles in Star Wars Episode VII), and even brought news of the forthcoming Star Wars Special Editions; but it would have been the opportunity to read about The Star Wars Holiday Special that intrigued me enough to buy a copy. You have to remember that in 1994 the internet hadn't really taken off yet, and at that time a lot of people had never even heard of the Star Wars holiday Special (myself included since I was only 4 years old when the Star Wars Holiday Special Aired on TV and George Lucas wanted to burn every copy). So here was an opportunity to see some rare photographs from the show, and learn a little about it. Today, of course, you can watch the holiday Special online, we even have a copy of it right here on TheStarWarsTrilogy.com. We have also preserved this premier issue of the magazine (which is still running by the way - Star Wars Insider #150 went on sale just one week ago):
