Tem Negative 1 Star Wars 35mm restoration, original trilogyIf you haven't been following the thread on OriginalTrilogy.com, then allow me to fill you in. Several years ago, a group of anonymous Star Wars fans, fed up with Fox and Lucasfilm refusing to release the original (pre-Special Edition) Star Wars film, had a crazy idea. What if they were able to obtain a complete 35mm print of Star Wars, scan it into the computer at at least 2K and assemble it into a full HD version of the original Star Wars? Well, faithful followers of the project - who have been waiting since at least 2008 - were rewarded today with their first look at Reel 3, fully assembled and cleaned up and presented in full, lossless HD. And WOW, does it look good. Sources close to the team tell us that all 6 Reels have now been cleaned and assembled, and are moving on to color correction, stabilization and other final touches. While this release can never match the detail and clarity of the official Blu-ray release, it will certainly take you back to 1977 and a Galaxy Far, Far away...

Download the lossless 1080p version of this sample. (2 GB) (You will need the lagarith codec for Windows, installation instructions here)
