Although the Han Solo Origin Story isn't due to hit the big screen until May 2018, as with any new release in the Star Wars series, this movie has already started raising pulses. Solo and his loyal Wookie co-pilot Chewbacca often poll towards the top in the list of most popular characters to feature in the franchise, so expect more spills and thrills as the story explains the early life of Space's favorite smuggling duo. There's plenty of speculation mounting over what will feature in the Solo Origin Story, so let's take a look at the rumors that have already been circulated between fans of the series.
How Closely Will The Plot Follow The Books?
Way back in 1997-1998 three Star Wars books were released describing the early life and en-devours of the younger Han Solo. These books required considerable care to accommodate the already known and published adventures of other characters in the series - many of who played an important role in the later Solo story. This especially included the amoral bounty hunter Boba Fett, duplicitous gangster Jabba the Hutt and Solo's rival/close friend Lando Calrissian.
In the books, the story line explains how Solo dragged himself up from an impoverished childhood to becoming the best smuggler going. Plot lines include how he saved Chewie - explaining his "life debt" and subsequent loyalty - the complicated relationship he has with Lando, and his early dealings with Jabba the Hutt. Throw in plenty of action featuring the iconic Millennium Falcon and Solo's shifting regard for the Rebel cause and we're pretty much certain to have an extremely fascinating story!
The Millennium Falcon
According to the films, Solo actually won the Millennium Falcon from Lando (and in the books it is explained that this happened in a game of Corellian Spike thanks to Solo using his 'lucky' golden dice. Now that would a prize worthy of any All Jackpot Online Casino, being the fastest spaceship anywhere in the galaxy. Once procured Solo is able to undertake far more dangerous missions, which provides a crucial launchpad for explaining the subsequent story.
Given that the movie is firmly geared to be a family blockbuster, winning the ship via gambling may raise a couple of eyebrows among some commentators. That being said, it's hardly carrying an advertising message akin to 'claim a new player welcome bonus when you join All Jackpots' - as of yet Corellian Spike isn't on offer at casinos that I'm aware of!
What We Do Know For Certain
The cast has already been announced, with a range of established and up and coming actors being chosen in much the same manner as the incredibly successful Rogue One. Alden Ehrenreich will attempt to fill Harrison Ford's boots as the young Han Solo, while Donald Glover will channel Billy Dee Williams as the young Lando Calrissian. Emelia Clarke, Woody Harrelson, Juunos Suotomo and Thandie Newton are also signed up to fill other prominent roles. It's an impressive cast and one that may very well find themselves reprising these characters in subsequent Star Wars films. Filming will be at Pinewood Studios.
Details remain hazy for precisely how large a budget The Han Solo Origin Story will be working with, but it's safe to say it will be on at least on par with 2016's Rogue One which was completed on a $200m budget and has so far earned over $1bn in global ticket sales.
